Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties have received about $160 million in federal grant money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to repair and renovate thousands of foreclosed apartments and homes. The spruced up properties will be rented or sold to low and mid-income families. A slew of area nonprofit groups received the money to stabilize neighborhoods ravaged by foreclosures and overtaken by blight. The money will cover rehabilitation efforts from south Miami-Dade to Lake Worth in Palm Beach County. [Miami Herald] and [Palm Beach Post]
