Suffolk Construction has been formally tapped to build the parking garage of the new Florida Marlins stadium after the Boston firm was able to shave the price tag for 6,000 spaces to $75 million. Miami City Commissioners also unanimously signed off on the sale of $92 million worth of bonds to fund the project. Earlier cost estimates had been as much as $120 million. Despite the commission approval, a Securities and Exchange Commission probe of Miami’s accounting practices, particularly surrounding bond issuance, could delay or derail this phase of the $640 million stadium project.
