PB Publix plans expansion with land buy
Palm Beach officials confirmed the pending sale of land owned by Palm Beach resident S. Daniel Abraham to Publix Super Markets, which plans to add on to its store at 265 Sunrise Avenue. The land, east of the store, is currently a parking lot. While neither the putative buyer nor seller would comment, Alan Golboro, chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission for the Town of Palm Beach said this transaction would make into reality Publix’s goal of expanding, which it announced in June 2008. The company wants to either build a new store on its existing site or expand the current 36,000-square-foot space, according to a Publix spokesperson.
