State AG goes after timeshare reseller, seeking permanent injunction

January 20, 2010 01:01PM

American Marketing Group, a Palm Beach Gardens-based reseller of timeshares, allegedly engaged in deceptive trade practices, according to a lawsuit brought by the Florida Attorney General’s Office in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. The office began investigating the company in November after receiving about 80 complaints from customers who said they had been unable to sell their timeshares and were not receiving promised refunds on service fees within the 120-day deadline the company guaranteed. American Marketing Group also has 107 complaints and an “F” rating with the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Florida. The state suit against the company and owner William Biossat seeks a permanent injunction that will keep it out of the timeshare resale business and get refunds for customers. [Palm Beach Post]
