Florida is No. 4 in mortgage fraud risk

Florida is fourth in a national ranking of states most at risk for
mortgage fraud, according to data collection firm Interthinx’s
fourth-quarter Mortgage Fraud Risk Report. California, Nevada and
Arizona, states which also carry the highest foreclosure risks along
with Florida, are the top three worst states for mortgage fraud. The nationwide risk of occupancy
fraud — the use of a straw buyer — rose 16 percent in the last year.
Property valuation fraud risk climbed 40 percent over the last year, and was up 100
percent over two years ago. [SFBJ]
