Moody’s Economy.com caused a stir last week with its prediction that South Florida home prices won’t recover to their peak levels until 2030, but the site isn’t alone in its doomsday forecasts. In his book, “The Trouble With Markets,” London economist Roger Bootle argued that home prices nationwide won’t fully recover until 2020 — for particularly volatile markets, it will be longer. “I suspect that it will be many years before house prices regain their old peaks, never mind scale new ones,” he wrote.
