Miami Springs’ new community center at 1401 Westward Drive is set for its debut Thursday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony that will celebrate the new, $6.2 million structure. The Rodriguez-Pereira Architects-designed project broke ground last March and boasts a black box theater, gymnasium, fitness room, classrooms, pool and running track. The building was built to withstand hurricane-force winds and has energy-efficient systems for insulation, water usage and recycling. [Miami Herald]
