Restaurant owners are feeling the heat in South Florida, but say they
feel a recovery is near. While restaurant sales are expected to be flat
nationally adjusting for inflation, local restaurants have seen sales
pick up by offering discounts and other dining deals. There has also
been a pick-up in new chain growth, like Five Guys Burgers and Fries, which
has expanded to several locations in the Miami area, and Duffy’s Sports
Grill, based in Palm Beach Gardens, which is opening two new locations
in Broward County in the next two months. Duffy’s saw a 4.8 percent
rise in sales last month. [Sun Sentinel]
