Manus House spared wrecking ball

The Palm Beach Landmarks Preservation Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to consider the 1960-vintage Manus House at 144 Wells Road for landmark designation. That halts the current owner’s attempt to get a permit for demolishing the house, designed by acclaimed mid-century architect Alfred Browning Parker, who drew inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright. Owner Peter Cohen wants to tear the house down and replace it with a British Colonial-style design.
