Contractor Burkhardt Construction will begin work today on a $13
million project to renovate and refurbish Worth Avenue in Palm Beach.
The project includes construction of a 30-foot clock tower, a piazza on
Hibiscus Avenue complete with a fountain, along with power line burials
and sidewalk improvements. Mark Marsh is the architect for the plan,
working with landscape designer Jorge Sanchez and Harvey Oyer, a
historian and lawyer. The initiative should be completed by Nov. 24.
Two retailers based in New York and Nantucket announced they would be
opening up shop on Worth Avenue this year. [Palm Beach Daily News]
