Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced
the creation of a mortgage fraud unit at the office, staffed by five
prosecutors, a forensic accountant, paralegals and support staff. There
have already been six mortgage fraud scams reported in South Florida in
May, most prominent among them being the case of Boca Raton-based TopDot Mortgage, a multimillion-dollar mortgage fraud scheme that included two branch managers, a lawyer and a bank vice president. [SFBJ]
