Golden Beach, the exclusive, 80-year old enclave at the northern end of
Miami-Dade County, was showing its age. The town had no sidewalks,
there were regular problems with the storm sewers and the street edges
were worn. Buyers were looking to other places, like Sunny Isles Beach
or Fisher Island. So the town’s leaders decided on a full-scale
renovation, with new trees, fountains, parks and the installation of
sidewalks, all as part of a $25 million renovation. The project even
includes motion detectors and infrared cameras to keep the town’s
private beach private. [Miami Herald]
