After being a fixture in the Miami construction industry for four
decades, supplier Banner Supply is struggling to stay alive, according
to its attorney, Michael Peterson. The company’s woes stem from its
purchase of problematic Chinese drywall in 2006 when drywall supplies
were low. With a slew of lawsuits and allegations it knew early on
about the problems with the drywall it purchased, the company has been
forced to cut its workforce from 222 to 65. According to Banner, it
stopped using the hazardous drywall in 2007 after complaints of foul
odors from homeowners. [SFBJ]
