In Miami-Dade County’s first jury trial over defective Chinese drywall,
attorneys made their opening statements, with the plaintiffs’ attorney making the case that Banner Supply officials knew
about the danger in their product and had the power to stop it, but
chose not to. Banner executive Scott Giering
said he regretted a comment made in deposition where he remarked that
some people might enjoy the smell of rotten eggs caused by drywall in
some homes. “I truly regret that statement that some people like that
smell or enjoy that smell,” Giering said. “I would prefer not to live
in a house that smells like rotten eggs.” [Miami Herald]
