The jury has begun deliberating in the country’s first jury trial
involving defective Chinese drywall. Lawyers for the Seifarts,
plaintiffs in the case, are seeking up to $4.4 million in damages
against Miami-based Banner Supply. That works out to an estimated
$100,000 per month that the attorneys are seeking to compensate their
clients for loss of enjoyment of the home. The Seifarts moved into
their Coconut Grove home in 2008, and moved out just over a year later.
“A company has to be responsible for its acts. It must be called to the
mat when it does something wrong,” the Seifarts’ attorney, Ervin
Gonzalez, told jurors. [SFBJ]
