Miami Gardens high school revamp moving ahead of schedule

Miami Carol City High School campus

The new Miami Carol City High School — a 370,000-square-foot replacement for the existing school next door — is complete ahead of schedule and will be ready for students to attend in the fall, Coastal Construction Group announced today. The new facility, which went up over the course of 22 months, is the second phase of an $80 million project to revamp the campus, located at 3422 Northwest 187th Street in Miami Gardens. The first phase, a three-story, 34-classroom building, was completed in 2007. Next up is the demolition of the original school building and the installation of new athletic fields, basketball courts and a running track, which are expected by June 2011. TRD
