Nearly 5,100 condo units were added to Fort Lauderdale in housing boom

Nearly 5,100 new condos were added to the downtown and beach
neighborhoods of Fort Lauderdale during the real estate boom, according
to Condo Vultures Realty. The construction wave increased inventory by 66
percent in less than a decade. Beginning in 2003, developers
constructed and converted 47 projects of 15 or more units in one
stretch of central Fort Lauderdale from Sunrise Boulevard to the State
Road 84 along with the area from NW 7th Street to the Atlantic Ocean.
The surge in total inventory in the area meant an increase to nearly
12,800 units in 180 projects. TRD
