Palm Beach County foreclosures up

Initial foreclosure filings in Palm Beach County rose slightly month-over-month in June to 1,640 properties, according to the office of the county‘s Clerk and Comptroller. There were 1,431 cases filed in May and 1,529 in April. Though the number of June filings was 31 percent below those during the same month last year, the county said “that decrease has not affected the backlog of foreclosure cases” in the court system. With 53,000 cases pending, Clerk Sharon Bock said she will spend $403,000 in state funds on temporary employees to help clear around 16 percent of those cases. [Palm Beach Post]
