Merck & Co. plans to sell its Miami Lakes manufacturing and packaging
plant as part of a company-wide restructuring process. The firm will
cut 15,000 jobs globally. The 134,619-square-foot Miami Lakes plant at
13900 NW 57th Court is the company’s only plant in Florida. It has been
owned by Schering-Plough since 1989 and is on a six-acre site. According
to Merck spokesman Ron Rogers, the plant does manufacturing and
packaging of pharmaceutical and consumer care products. The plan is to
sell the plant as an operating entity by the end of this year. [SFBJ]
