13 charged with housing fraud in Palm Beach County

At least seven South Floridians were arrested this morning and thrown
into the Palm Beach County jail on charges that they lied about their
status to get rental subsidies from the federal government. The arrests
were part of a joint federal, state and county investigation called
“Operation Shield,” which so far resulted in charges against 13
individuals for defrauding the government of roughly $585,000 in
housing assistance funds. The individuals charged include Tanisha Henry
of Wellington; Robin Clark of South Bay; Anthony Bridges of Belle
Glade; Leon Jackson and Lavoner McCray of Riviera Beach; and Tammy
Latson and Stephanie Porter of West Palm Beach. In the past, this type
of fraud has involved a failure to disclose residents’ violent crime or
drug charges, an annual income that exceeds the qualification cutoff,
or lying about the number of people living in the unit. [Palm Beach Post]
