Kendall approves 90-foot cell phon

July 29, 2010 11:15AM

The Kendall Community Council approved a 90-foot cell phone tower last
week near Southwest 97th Avenue and Sunset Drive. The tower, which will
be disguised to look like a flagpole, will be located at a McDonald’s at
9861 SW 72nd Street, after a 4-2 vote approved the measure following
much debate. There were questions over whether T-Mobile South, which
applied for the tower, had sufficiently exhausted other options, after
having been deferred multiple times this year in their request. The
approval was helped by a compromise that lowered the tower from an
original 100 feet to 90 feet. The council also approved a request that
will allow a T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods store to open at the Greenery Mall. [Miami
