Palm Beach County Commissioner Jeff Koons is the subject of a state probe into his involvement in a waterfront project in Lake Worth that received approval from West Palm Beach commissioners in June. The South Cove project is estimated to cost the county between $2 million and $4 million, including an $800,000 boardwalk that would span man-made mangrove islands in the Lake Worth Lagoon. Koons had been an outspoken advocate for the plan, despite it having come under scrutiny because of its potential impact on nearby buildings. Sources told the Palm Beach Post that Koons testified before a state grant jury in West Palm Beach roughly two weeks ago. [Palm Beach Post]
