Check scam rips off Sewall’s Point realtor

The owner of Castle Keepers Realty in Sewall’s Point, Bonnie Muir, could
not figure out where her money was going. She looked at her checking account, which seemed perpetually drained.
After returning from a trip last year and finding her power turned off,
she found out she’d been the victim of bank fraud by an agent at her
real estate brokerage. The agent, Tonya Berthiaume, was arrested last
year and confessed to stealing more than $18,000. She spent the next
year in jail. Soon, Muir found that the plundering totaled nearly
$400,000, for which the state attorney is now pursuing further charges. [Palm
