Two major developers are going forward with formerly-stalled plans for
new big-box shopping centers. The Gables Station and Shops at Beacon
Lakes projects are slated to be ready by late 2012 or 2013, but
developers feel it is time to start testing the waters again. Flagler
and AMB Property Corporation have revived their plans for the Shops at
Beacon Lakes, and workers have begun clearing a 42-acre site just north
of SR 836, west of Florida’s Turnpike. Developer Jeff Berkowitz’s plans
are back on the board for Gables Station, which is planned for 4811 Le
Jeune Road. [Miami
