Thousands line up for mortgage expo

Thousands of people were lined up Friday outside the Palm Beach County
Convention Center, including some by the busload, for the latest
South Florida loan modification expo
held by the Neighborhood
Assistance Corporation of America. “I’m here because I have to be,” said
P. Reed, who drove all night to arrive at the center. “They put me in
foreclosure last week.” NACA, which is led by Bruce Marks, receives $500
for each successful loan modification that lasts three months without
default. The group was last in West Palm Beach in February, when its
counselors worked on 24,000 loans and modified 16,097 of them. [Miami
