Miami Beach pols mull SoBe complex

A developer’s proposal to build a 400,000-square-foot complex right at
the gateway to South Beach could get a second chance when Miami Beach
commissioners consider it today. Russel Galbut needs officials to change
the land-use and zoning restrictions of the former South Shore Hospital
site at 630 Alton Road to enable him to
build a high-end retail, office and residential center that would be
about two times the size of Brickell’s Mary Brickell Village. The zoning
of the site currently allows medical uses but not commercial
development. [Miami
