PB Gardens mulls 8.2% tax hike

Palm Beach Gardens is considering an 8.2 percent property tax rate increase today at the meeting of the City Council. The owner of a home assessed at $250,000 with a $50,000 homestead exemption this year paid the city $1,078 in property taxes. Under the proposed rate, the same owner would pay around $1,166, or an increase of $88. The city is proposing to lower its budget by around 3 percent, to $106.1 million. Palm Beach Gardens is also contemplating allowing dogs to eat at certain designated areas of restaurants, if eateries pay for a $175 permit. [Palm Beach Post]
