GMAC halts evictions, some sales in FL

GMAC told real estate agents Monday to stop evicting residents and to
put the hold on any sales of properties that had been taken back from
homeowners, putting hundreds of South Floridians facing foreclosure into
a new level of uncertainty, according to a report published by
Bloomberg News. GMAC Mortgage did the same in 22 other states, including
New York. In Broward County, the company has 865 pending foreclosure
cases, having also filed 940 such cases in Palm Beach County since 2009,
according to county records. It is not clear at this point whether GMAC
borrowers will get a reprieve, but a report by GMAC hinted it may
change its course. [Sun
