Office Depot HQ gets LEED certification

More than 18 months after Office Depot workers took residence in the
retailer’s new Boca Raton headquarters, the building has received gold
certification through the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership for
Energy and Environmental Design program. The certification took nine
months to acquire, but has more to do with how the 625,000-square-foot
property works on the inside than its building materials. The building’s
shell isn’t certified, but its operations are now certified, according
to Yalmaz Siddiqui, director of environmental strategy for Office Depot.
