SeaFreight Agencies has leased a new 25-acre cargo terminal at Port
Everglades. The 10-year lease was awarded to the Miami-based firm by the
Broward County Commission. The contract will require the firm to pay
$2.4 million per year to the port, a payment that will eventually
develop into a $4.2 million payment per year, the port said in a
release. SeaFreight has operated at the port for 18 years; the new cargo
yard where the terminal is located has been under construction since
April 2009. [SFBJ]
