Miami-Dade County has spent $579 million on capital improvement projects since July 2008 through its Economic Stimulus Plan, creating 5,500 jobs in the process, officials announced today. Projects funded by the program include the new West Miami and Sunny Isles Fire Rescue Stations, the Northside Police Station and the Pelican Harbor Marina. The funding has also allowed contractors to pick up the pace on the construction of the Arcola Lakes Library and renovations of the airport and seaport, the county said. TRD
