Foreign firms central in construction projects

Contractors like Brazilian firm Odebrecht have made a mark on
transportation in the United States, including South Florida.
Oldebrecht, which also built the Adrienne Arsht Center for the
Performing Arts, held a reception there this week to celebrate 20 years
of operation in the United States, highlighted by its recent work on the
$1.7 billion transit hub just east of Miami International Airport. Two
other large projects, including the tunnel under Biscayne Bay to the
Port of Miami and the reconstruction of I-595 in Broward County, also
involve foreign contractors. [Miami
