Fewer tax appeals in Palm Beach County

There was a steep drop in the number of property tax appeals in Palm
Beach County this year, with the total number of people challenging
their property tax appeals falling by 43 percent, according to the Palm
Beach County Clerk and Comptroller’s office. While 19,000 homeowners
changed their property tax bills last year, just over 10,800 property
owners did so this year. According to officials, the drop is due to
declining property values. Sept. 16 was the deadline to file an appeal. [Palm
