The Real Deal Miami

Design District holding its own

With nearby developments like Midtown Miami thriving, the Design District is still managing to more than hold its own just north of 36th Street. The emergence of new eateries in the last few years has helped the neighborhood move forward, with Sra. Martinez and Michael’s Genuine, both helmed by James Beard-winning chefs, leading the way. Another new spot, Mai Tardi, an Italian eatery by the Graspa Group, has also made noise on the scene in just about a year. According to Cushman & Wakefield’s Greg Masin, the area is primed for positive absorption and new growth in 2011.
