Officials warn on bedbug fixes

Florida officials warned consumers Tuesday on attempts to deal with the
growing problem of bedbugs, with people and pets being hurt as consumers
try unorthodox methods to tackle the issue. “People get desperate when
they are trying to treat these bugs by themselves because they are such a
tenacious pest and they are so adept at hiding themselves,” said
Michael Page, a spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and
Consumer Affairs. Florida has not become a bedbug epicenter yet, but
there have been 81 infestations reported in Florida hotels this year. [Sun
