Hotels expand for NBA guests

Traveling NBA teams bring in big business for Miami hotels, with some
teams bringing in around $15,000 per night depending on the hotel. A
number of hotels have made upgrades or built with these guests in mind.
The California King beds in the Marriott’s new Hotel Beaux Arts, opening
this month, are 84 inches long, just long enough for traveling NBA
guests. The Epic Hotel has high shower heads, roomy ceilings and even
raised vanities. Eric Jellson, sales and marketing director at Epic,
said players want 24-7 room service availability, so the staff makes
sure to be able to fill any late-night requests. It even has its
ballroom available for conversion to a basketball court in a pinch.
According to the Heat, players have stayed at the Intercontinental, the
Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne and the Four Seasons in the last few years.
The new JW Marriott Marquis even has a regulation basketball court in
its facility. [Miami
