Florida courts fight foreclosures differently

There is a large disparity in how foreclosures are handled in South
Florida’s counties, with Miami-Dade County leading the way. In
Miami-Dade, before a foreclosure gets to a court hearing, it has already
been reviewed by a case manager who decides whether the paperwork
included is sufficient. Just 28 percent of the county’s foreclosures
were decided by summary judgment, or quick foreclosure hearings in lieu
of a trial, between July and September. The state average for summary
judgments is about 71 percent, the same rate in Palm Beach County. [Palm
