Banner Supply, the Miami drywall distributor, has agreed to a settlement with 74 homeowners in Homestead’s Keys Gate subdivision whose properties were affected by contaminated Chinese drywall that they claim was sold by Banner. The settlement, one of the first in the South Florida area, could make way for many more down the road. “There’s no set number of homes Banner is willing to pay or not,” said Banner attorney Michael Peterson, who said the company has already received nearly 3,000 claims. “It comes down to the type of home and its size. It also varies based on the nature and extent of the problem in the home.” [SFBJ]
