The last time Patsy Campbell made a payment on the mortgage on her
Okeechobee County home was in 1985. She has been living there
since 1978, however, able to keep her house in a foreclosure saga that
has outlasted two marriages, recessions, and the births of seven
great-grandchildren. Campbell has challenged her foreclosure on the
grounds that it was improperly transferred between banks and federal
agencies, among other things. She has managed to delay the banks because
several courts have accepted some merit in her arguments. She has
learned the foreclosure process to the degree that she has buried her
lenders’ attorneys with appeals and counteractions. [WSJ]
