The 17th judicial circuit in Broward County has canceled all scheduled foreclosure auctions and hearings from today through the end of 2010, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Anything set for that period must be rescheduled. Lenders and government-owned mortgage agencies typically call a halt to foreclosures at this time of year. However, many loan servicers had already drastically slowed or stopped the process in September, to deal with shoddy paperwork. In neighboring Palm Beach County, foreclosures are proceeding on a regular schedule. Last month, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac announced that they were halting foreclosure evictions during the holiday season, between today, Dec. 20 and Jan. 3. [Sun-Sentinel]
