South Florida continued to shed construction jobs in November, accounting for a total of 9,700 of the state’s 13,100 employment losses in the industry since last year, according to a new analysis of federal employment data by the Associated General Contractors of America. But while the industry’s situation in the region is still growing more dismal, some signs of light are beginning to appear nationwide. Construction employment rose or remained steady in November in 120 of the 337 metropolitan areas tracked, which was an increase from previous months that may be attributed to federal stimulus dollars for public and military building projects.
