Condo residents at the Spring Tree Cove West in Sunrise have to cross a police crime scene tape to access their homes after a canal collapse has put their ability to ever return to their homes in jeopardy. “My heart is broken,” said Jozefa Sontag. “I work 30 years in the United States so I can have home. I pay the mortgage and everything.” Since Dec. 16, Sontag and six other families have been unable to live in their homes after the canal behind their row of townhouses consumed large portions of their backyards. The homes have now been declared unsafe. [CBS Miami]
