BJ’s to close Sunrise location

BJ’s Wholesale Club will be closing its location in Sunrise as part of a
five-store shutdown by the end of the month, the wholesaler announced yesterday.
Three of the stores are in Atlanta and one is in Charlotte. “The five
clubs to be closed have historically underperformed and, after careful
consideration, we concluded that improvement of their operating results
was unlikely,” said Laura Sen, CEO of BJ’s, which is based in Natick,
Mass. The store, which is located at 3469 University Drive, will close
Jan. 17. The company has four stores nearby in Fort Lauderdale,
Hollywood, Pembroke Pines and Parkland. [Sun
