Repairs start at Sunrise canal

Repairs have begun on the canal in Sunrise that destroyed six backyards, although the cause of the collapse is yet to be determined. City commissioners approved a $225,000 plan to fix the canal last week, with a new bank being built by dumping boulders into the canal, as seen in the video above. The whole process should take around three weeks. “You expect a hurricane to hit, but not a canal to eat up your house,” one of the affected homeowners, Eric Weglinski, said days after the incident.
