Urgo Hotels has purchased the Ocean Point Hotel in Pompano Beach for $8.55 million and is planning to close the property in June for a six-month renovation and expansion project. The nine-story hotel will get an additional 114 rooms, 3,000 square feet of indoor space and 2,000 square feet of outdoor space, including a new health club and pool. In addition, a “well-regarded restaurateur” is in negotiations to open a new tiki bar and restaurant at the oceanfront property, the company said. [SFBJ]
