Just like many U.S. homeowners, churches across the country spent beyond their means during the real estate boom and are now suffering the consequences of crushing mortgage debt. With many of their congregants unemployed or underwater on the mortgages for their own homes, collections are also down. In the video above, the Wall Street Journal takes a look at the plight of U.S. churches that are losing their houses of worship.
