Google Maps to retire real estate feature

As of Feb.10, Google Maps will be discontinuing its real estate feature, due to low usage, the abundance of property-search tools available on real estate websites and the impending retirement of the Google Base API, which is used by listing providers to submit listings. The feature, which launched in July 2009, granted users the ability to find property for sale or rent directly on Google, in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, England and Japan. Google still offers other options to home-seekers, by allowing them to access information such as local businesses, directions and transit times, as well as aerial and street view images to explore a neighborhood.
