A Davie landlord who has been renting out a furnished bedroom in his townhome through Roommates.com has been ordered to pay $476,000 in damages for secretly videotaping his former female tenant. The man, Kenneth Ryals, is a 60-year-old IRS agent who was accused of installing a mini wireless camera in the room’s DVD/VCR player and pointing it at the bed of tenant Miranda Goldston, now 27 years old. Goldston only discovered the camera upon moving out in 2007, and sued him for invasion of privacy. Criminal charges were dropped, and Ryals posted another listing on Roommates.com after her departure. Meanwhile, the townhome has gone into foreclosure. [Miami Herald]
