The Real Deal Miami

Bank gets Merrill-Stevens boatyard at auction

February 03, 2011 03:06PM

Coconut Grove Bank will soon take title to the Merrill-Stevens boat yard on the Miami River after winning a foreclosure auction on the 5.6-acre property earlier today. The bank had already won an $11 million foreclosure judgment against the Merrill-Stevens Dry Dock Co., which had operated the boatyard for 88 years and is owned by Hugh Westbrook and Carole Shields Westbrook. The Westbrooks had wanted to expand the 5.6-acre site, at 1270 N.W. 11th Street until the recession foiled their plans. [SFBJ]
