Foreclosure law firm Ben-Ezra & Katz has fired around 41 percent of
its staff after Fannie Mae terminated its relationship with the firm.
The firm, which handles 18,000 such cases throughout Florida, was
informed yesterday in a memo. “Ben-Ezra & Katz today laid off 236 of
our 568 employees from our offices in South Florida,” the memo said.
“We were forced to take this action after Fannie Mae surprisingly
terminated its relationship with the firm last week.” A Miami-Dade judge
criticized founding partner Marc Ben-Ezra last week for filing “sham”
documents. Ben-Ezra is the second foreclosure firm to be fired by Fannie
Mae, following the Law Offices of David J. Stern. [Palm
